This month is the end of Thailand’s Lent Festival. When the rainy season gradually subsides, the gestures of people wiping ashtrays hide the resilience philosophy of a nation – all the burned time will eventually settle into the power to hold up the rising sun under the steady back of the elephant. Just as the national flag spreads its three colors in the wind, the elephant ashtray teaches us: the glory of life often blooms in the wisdom of acceptance and transformation.
